The sound coming from my 3.5mm speaker jacks...that are meant for surround sound use...are being processed and transmitted to my 5.1 surround sound stereo reciever...through the S/PDiF TOSLink connection. The signals that come from those speakers jacks are ALWAYS encoded by the audio card's firmware before transmitted to the reciever, which then decodes it......otherwise using digital alone without any sort of encoding will always be stuck outputing on 2 chanel stereo.
Beofre anyone gets on my case about all this again...please note that there are other methods of encoding which are lossless that NVIDIA uses to transmit the aufio through HDMI. NVIDIA typically uses Dolby Digtal fomrats.
On a slightly different note...why on earth would ANYONE want to waste the TitanXP's full capcabilities on encoding audio?

To clear things up, I would like to keep the highest sound quality possible while maintaining my video and audio lines separate as to eliminate my visual issue. How it is done, i am not concerned.
What I am concerned about is
-Maintaining 7.1 Sound as I have at the moment
-4k Video output
-Separating Video and audio
-Cheapest solution possible while meeting the other requirements
All via your NVIDIA GPU:
Video Only:
DP male-to-male cable from GPU to Gaming Monitor
DP male to HDMI female Adapter + HDMI male-to-male cable; DP adapter plugs into GPU-side; connect the HDMI to TV/Monitor for a Secondary Display
Audio Only:
HDMI male-to-male cable from GPU to A/V Receiver; then check that Windows is configured on this device for whatever Surround Sound Config you wish to output. On the Receiver also check any digital config settings, such as 5.1 or 7.1 mode, DTS/Dolby, etc... and output through Speakers connected directly to the Receiver
*Always use DP for refresh rates above 60Hz and/or high-res such as 4K
DisplayPort audio through an HDMI adapter is out of the question because DP doesn't support ARC.
Furthermore, why do everything through the GPU? Kaboose is wanting to play games at 4K resolutions at 60FPS. Using a TitanXP for audio in general is a waste of its potential.
