16gb memory (8gb usable)
Google brings up ancient threads. And unsolved issues or msconfig changes that don't work.
The system in question has shown 16gb usable and this has just come up after trying to OC, everything has been changed back. And bios reset. Latest bios firmware is installed.
The missing 8gb shows in "hardware reserved" has anyone successfully dealt with this recently.
OS is win10 64bit

Post your full system specs please...
-I7 870
-Asus p7p55d-e lx motherboard
-16gigs Samsung ddr3 ram (specs generic in open hardware monitor but showing 13.7gb available in the old screenshot I'm getting my specs from)
-1tb wd blue hard drive
-Evga Gtx 1050 2gb

4x4gb ram modules if it makes a difference.
Also like to note the pc won't post with anything less then the 4 modules installed.

On a Motherboard that old, might need to enter the BIOS and enable "Memory Re-Mapping"
Thanks guys after this thread i have a couple more ideas to try when i get home from work. Will report back with my findings but in the meantime other ideas are welcome.
Memory remapping is enabled. No change
Xmp dohcp don't change anything either
Does Task Manager show all 16GB where it says Physical Memory > Total?
And does CPU-Z show all your RAM present and configured correctly?

Pretty sure it says 16. Will confirm when i get home.
I can still play games on it but it's on my mind constantly I want it rectified haha.
If Task Manager and CPU-Z show that it is all there, then you're fine.
It's another story if Task Manager is showing 8GB for total ram available.

I ended up reseating my cpu and reseating all 4 ram sticks and it seemed to work. After a week of messing with it the PC wasn't running right so I did the windows based windows reinstall (the one that gives you the option to save your files) and it seems we are back at full performance. a LOT of work but I'm happy to have my system back to 100%. Wish I knew what solved it to help people down the road though. Thanks to those who chimed in with tips and ideas.
