Unless you just have a whole bunch of money... then I'd just buy what you want and forget about the price.
Heard some people stalk that site along with EVGA direct, good luck joining that chaos.
I'd pay the extra $400 just to not have to do that. I'll pay a lot for my own time.
Well u could buy the FE, replace the cooler, arctic accelero or ek if u want water cooling and do some oc.
I would not want to actually modify the cooling as you suggested EyMi...its in an enclosed cover.
Best plan right now, might take some time, but the savings are probably worth it,given the cost of some 1080ti's, the titan Xp finally makes sense lol
You know a heat pipe is just part of the heatsink right ? It's simply a copper or aluminium pipe used to move the heat further down the card to another section of the heatsink.
Taking apart a founders card is no more complex than any other, as long as components are with in spec, there is no danger.
Blower coolers are actually remarkably effective, it's just they make a bloody racket with the fans turned up to be most efficient.
Heat pipes are definetelly more effective. They get the heat away from the chip and move it to where the fans can quickly remove the heat..well away from the chips themselves. I am well aware of how they work and what they are made of ( which doesn't matter ..what matters is what they do ).. Check out the specs of an Asus Strix GPU for cooling some time.
I don't need to look at a strix card to know how the coolers work,I was merely pointing out that it isn't just heat pipes that make it a good cooler as they are simply part of the heatsink. Also, watercool ftw :)
Edit.
Forgot to add, only things like kingpin have modded voltage limits, and I am unsure if even it does to be honest, though one of the 3 bios may have it, the main way around voltage limits us to shunt or power mod a card where you intentionally short circuit the shunts fooling the card allowing it to pull more power.
And what I was pointing out is there is a significant difference between just a heatsink and a heatsink with heatpipes added.
