dont mix cards that way
If you want more power, the most cost-effective way forward would be selling both cards and buying a single powerful GPU. Like a 1080 or 1070Ti.
Best bet is just use 1x 580 8GB; or sell off both and buy a single GPU that performs better overall; like GTX 1070 or better.
Two 580s should get you a good way towards a 1070. Even in these prices. And that's a much better card with much higher performance than crossfire 580s.
And the OP would not get the full usage of that better 580 8GB.
CF 290x' we're on par with a 1080 so CF 580's will be much better than a 1070 with supported games.
by the way in the internet bench there is a technical tie between the cf of rx580 and a 1080. In some games the CF wins and in others the gtx.
Most of the time games do not support it at all, or only with issues.
Having a strong single card is always preferrable in terms of performance and avoiding issues.
Additionally, Crossfire and SLI both suffer from micro-lag, CF more than SLI.
Then again with mining craze and prices getting an Nvidia card instead doesn't seem like all that bad of a suggestion.
... or play and mine until you can get a GTX 2080 or whatever ...
