Go to Steelseries' website and download a firmware update for your headset.
Hi there! I too have a SteelSeries Sims 4 Headset. The problem still persists for me. If you have a Siberia 150, the firmware update resolves the issue. But, it seems there is no support for Sims 4 Headset in the SteelSeries website. I have checked their website and it seems they have stopped the technical support for the said product and removed the product from their page. The Sims 4 Collection from SteelSeries includes:
- SteelSeries Sims 4 USB Headset with mic
- SteelSeries Sims 4 LED Mouse
- SteelSeries Sims 4 MousePad
From what i found, SteelSeries have stopped selling this collection and also terminated support for these products.
I am running Windows 7 64 bit Desktop. I have tried Power Management tweaks (no progress), Trying various USB ports, both front and rear (still no progress), tried running Siberia150Updater for mine on desperate measures (still no progress), Graphic card drivers, Audio drivers and SteelSeries Engine all are kept upto date (still no progress).

MY WORK-AROUND:
- Connect my Sims 4 headset and check it by playing music, checking left right, and checking mic
- Lauch steam, problem appears, after steam loads completely disconnect headset, wait 5 secs, reconnect headset
- disconnect happens but for two times and third time, connection gets stabilized.
- open playback and recording devices and check audio playback and mic volumes
- I play a song before opening a game, then lauch a game, headset disconnects, music gets cut
- after game launches into mainmenu, alt+tab in desktop, disconnect my headset, wait 5 secs, reconnect, disconnect happens two times, but third time gets stabilized
- open game, check audio setting, if no audio but settings are correct, alt+tab to playback devices, disable sims 4 headset and re-enable, switch back to game, audio should work fine
I am very frustated as this works as a one time solution, meaning the next time i open a game, i still face the problem and I have to do these things again. Its such a headache with this product. I will stick on to this product as long as it lives as it is wonderful when it works correctly.
Thanks for the tip! Funny thing is I have also tried installing old stable version drivers, but kinda still had the problem when there is a middle party between game and Headset software (like Steam, Uplay, Origin, etc.).
I have not found a solution to it, yet I found a reliable workaround if i switch to illuminate single color light in USB Headset instead of the multicolor or pulsing modes (Seems funny & wierd). I believe that the headset utility is not optimized properly to read and transfer data when it comes to running multiple applications at an instance - Game executables + Game-platform launchers (steam, uplay, etc) , and run GAME SENSE for in-game infos like low ammo light glow, low health light glow, etc on headset. I hope my workaround helps others who are still spinning in circles.:)
Hey there, I am too facing this issue just like you. My Sims 4 Headset doesn't give output (sometimes playback, sometimes mic, sometimes both). I narrowed this down and found it happens only after sytem boot after a complete shutdown. Unfortunately I have not found a solution to this problem, yet i have a temporary workaround:
- Connect Headset only after system is fully booted. In other terms, disconnect headset before booting and reconnect after booting.
(OR)
- Boot normally, play music in VLC or Media player to check for playback. If no audio playback, let the music play and do this, Right-click Speaker icon in taskbar --> playback devices --> Right-click Sims 4 Headset --> Click Test. You might find a funny thing that headset gets unmuted seperately first left and then right. Check for your mic by speaking something or unmuting the Sims 4 Mic device which the system had muted by default.
The worrying thing about this is that this workaround is temporary, and we have to check and do this at every instance of booting our computers. The reason I believe is that the headset's power management process is contradicting with Windows' Power management settings, and I also believe that a permanent solution can be implemented if there is a rectifying firmware update for this product. I think due to this issue, the problem also leads to disconnecting or muting problem when launching or during games.
