1080p or 1440p?

i have a 2080 gaming x trio, i7 8700k and 16gb ddr4 3200 corsair ram and wondering what would be better between a msi optix 27" frameless 144hz, should i get 1440p or 1080p? is it noticeable enough for the extra money or not worth the loss in frames? or just another monitor in general haha cheers.

My 27" BenQ 144Hz gaming monitor I run in 3620x2036 4k? had it higher than that

the msi optix is roughly the same price and smaller 27 which would be better for my desk so reckon i should just get that?

I have a RTX 2080 and i own a 4k monitor. Play about 70/30 between 1440p and 4k.
Older titles in 4k, the newest AAA stuff in 1440p since it often falls below 60 FPS in 4k/max settings.

Works fine for me.

Did not play Metro Exodus yet ( refuse to support EGS) but in AAA games ( Division 2, Shadow of Tomb Raider, Far Cry 5) i usually get around 80-90 FPS average with very high/ultra settings.
But i play on a Ryzen 2600x, on a more powerful Intel CPU like yours you may add like 15-20 FPS to that max i think.

Depends a lot on the individual game of course. Some games are more CPU intensive, some more GPU, some are better optimized , some are not.
And so on.

Bun in general i think with a RTX 2080 you should aim for 1440p gaming as a standard in all games. And even 4k/60FPS+ is possible if you lower a setting here or there.

1080p is just a waste with a RTX 2080. It was even a waste on my old GTX 1080.

See when you look at the exchange rate, your prices are about the same or better than here I the UK.

Yes a top tier monitor is expensive, but it will likely last you several entire pc's.

Yes, very in my opinion. Its nearly 70% more pixels then 1080p. Everything looks a LOT sharper.

1440p is twice the pixels of 1080p, you will notice a great increase in texture Pixels. a 2080ti will easily run any AAA title in 2133x1440p at Ultra settings! good luck

Well, 80% more and its 2560x 1440, not 2133, that's ddr4 base :)

Also, go for 27 inch not 24, I'm pretty sure they don't do the good 1449p panels at 24 inch anymore.
