Best ask in the Steam Hardware forum. The users over there know much more about pc hardware and upgrades and can help you better.

DDR4 is a standard. As long as the RAM and the Motherboard properly support the standard it should generally work.

Although if you're paranoid you could always check the support RAM list with the motherboard manufacturer or with XPG.

As Brockenstein mentions, RAM compatibility is decided by the motherboard alone - if your motherboard supports it, it'll work regardless of processor, GFx card etc.

A quick way to check would be to type your motherboard model into Amazon and see if it lists DDR4 in its features and you're off, but if it's fairly new the chances are high as DDR4 has been common for quite a while now.

Just be wary of mixing RAM types as that can cause problems...

thanks i have ddr4 motherboard i have 2133 mhz drr4 12gb ram but i will upgrade now to 3000 mhz 16 gb ddr4, although my cpu supports only up to 2133 mhz so the ram will be downclocked to that range

https://www.adata.com/a/feature/552

Yes it does say that, it says it supports AM4 as well. That feature page isn't an exhaustive technical list of hardware supported. It's marketing fluff.

https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/adata-rgb-xpg-spectrix-d41-2x8gb-ddr4-3200,5700.html here's a review of it using a Z370 board. It works because it's DDR4 RAM in a DDR4 board... so see my first post.

PLEASE HELP my cpu can support only 2133 mhz ram but i bought 3200 mhz ram,
my cpu can support only 2133 mhz ram but i bought 3200 mhz ram, can they downclock themselves to 2133 mhz ?

What makes you think your CPU doesn't support 3200mhz? It will work fine..
r.linder 21 Thg04, 2019 @ 1:12pm
If your CPU doesn't support 3200, then it would only use it's maximum supported speed even when the RAM is running at a higher frequency
Omega 21 Thg04, 2019 @ 1:15pm
The CPU doesn't support a certain RAM speed, it is garanteed to work with RAM up to a certain clockspeed. If your motherboard can overclcok you can set your RAM to 3200Mhz by choosing a XMP profile and it will most likely work just fine.

If your motherboard can't overclock the RAM will run at 2133Mhz.

my cpu supports only 2133 mhz with is intel i7 6700 3.4-4 ghz :( so u guys think the ram will downclock itself , my motherboard can only support up to 2400 mhz so is it safe for me to overclock to 2400 mhz , and first of all can i do it?

It won't matter if the CPU can't use more than 2133. The RAM works directly with the CPU.

to talk about mhz cuz my cpu can support only up to 2133 mhz ddr4 and the ram that i bought are 3000 mhz what will happen? my mobo can support only up to 2400 mhz? so can i overclock 2400 mhz or no and is it safe for my cpu

2133Mhz isn't what the CPU supports, it's what the CPU is garanteed to work with. DDR4 RAM will always run at 2133Mhz until overclocked. The memory controller in the CPU will be overclocked to let the RAM run at these higher clockspeeds.
