Worth upgrade to newer Gigabyte Aero?

Hey all quick question. Current laptop is a gigabyte Aero i7 -7700, 16gb ram 1070maxq, Am i likely see much more gaming performance if i upgrade to the new model gigabyte aero i9 8950,32 gb ram rtx 2080 maxq? i game at 1440p on a 144hz monitor when im not at work. Will the upgrade see much better results?

You can get a very powerful PC for MUCH cheaper if you build a tower instead of a laptop, yes you lose portability but something to consider. You could build a ITX micro gaming tower and still have some portability too. Even if you have to pay someone to build it you still save hundreds, plus it much easier and cheaper to repair parts.

The best Gigabyte Aero laptops I see on Amazon are only have an RTX 2070, unless there is something I am missing. Although I can suggest these:

(Note this is on the Canadian Amazon page) Your current laptop is still pretty good so you can make a nice amount of money selling it to cover the costs of upgrading to a new one.

Alright well I stand corrected, and looking at the specs I see that the major differences of that Aero 15 versus the two I suggested are:
- 2Tb storage instead of only 1Tb
- 2160p (4K) display instead of 1080p (Not a big deal considering the size of the display)
- 32GB of RAM instead of 16GB (although 16GB is currently more than enough for gaming)

It is $2000 more though, and if you already own a 1440p 144Hz monitor I suggest it you just get one of the two I listed instead; you can just buy more storage separately for much cheaper.

There is a huge improvement of roughly 40% power just from the graphic card alone, let alone the CPU upgrade too!

I still really think you should go with the Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX701 instead of the Gigabyte AERO 15-Y9-4K80P. Yes it "only" has 16GB of RAM, a 1080p display (which is not a big deal since the display is 17.3”), and 1Tb of storage but it is $1000 less, bigger screen, and has much better cooling. You already have a 1440p 144Hz monitor too while at home! (Yes the keyboard being on only the lower half may seem odd but it is to allow it to cool better). It is one of the best laptops money can buy and blows the lid off your current one.

Although I made a mistake in an earlier post (that I have edited now), this is the model you would want, it has 1Tb storage instead!

Even if it was the exact same price I still would rather the Asus one due to the larger screen and better cooling. But in the end I am sure both are great and you wouldn't be disappointed either way.
