wanting to mod my PS4 controller

i use a PS4 controller for PC gaming.. the steam controller is okay, i guess, but ive been using thumbsticks for 20 years, im used to them, i do well with them, so i'll pass on the trackpads.. but anyway, i'd like to add 2-4 more buttons on it.. too bad you have to remap them to the existing buttons and cannot use them as new mappings, but regardless, im trying to find some good mods to do this

the most common options require drilling into the backplate and mounting buttons through that, then soldering them to a tab that goes against the circuit board to fire off the input events when pressed.. it seems like a lot of that could be implemented by a $15-$20 aftermarket back shell.. does anyone sell a product like that?.. and are there any mods that allow 4 buttons to be placed along the grips (since i play with four fingers on top, i only have ring and pinky fingers available) without removing the rumble motors?.. i may consider side buttons instead that you can use the base of your index finger with

Most game can't use such extra buttons anyway unless it's remapped within something like Steam BigPictureMode on a pre-game basis.

Perhaps look at XboxOne ELITE controller, or one customized by SCUF

all a scuf controller does is add paddles that are soldered to the contact points of the front face buttons, pretty easy to do yourself, i was just wondering if there was a back plate that had a lot of the bottons pre-installed so i didnt have to drill holes in my existing controller

Never seen anything like that for DS4 though, no.

may just have to go with buttons then that stick out.. i know some of the PS4 paddle/button mods out there do set the buttons way too high, as i typically play with four fingers on the top, the kits with the buttons coming out the back are too high, those are for middle fingers

i did find one source for a setup that has pre-drilled backplates for their buttons.. could be an option, i MAY get the kit that has the detachable thumbstick and buttons.. but trying to find some extended home/share buttons as well.. the way im able to remap the PS4 controller on steam, its just a shame that home and share are recessed, and not the easiest to make use of.. simply extending those buttons would be an immense improvement

the touchpad on the ds4 can be mapped to other keys/buttons
regions, swipe directions
just map its controls per game and your set

yeah.. uhm.. i sort of broke my controller.. so no mods necessary.. for some reason over the last week i began having an issue with the right thumbstick.. its FUBAR now
