3600 or 2700x?
Would I rather be better with a 3600 or a 2700x?

I'll be using a 2060 super or RX 5700,

16gb of ram,

at 1080p (144hz)

Any help would be appreciated.

For gaming, the 3600 is slightly better, while the 2700X is better for work. Ultimately it comes down to how much it costs; if you can get a 2700X for cheaper than you can get the 3600, then it's better to opt for the 2700X, in my opinion.

The 2700x is £168, the 3600 is £178 (£10 difference)

I'll be coding as well as gaming, if I at least get 80-100fps or more in most games I'll be fine.

If you plan on streaming or doing any sort of work that can use the extra cores and multi-threaded performance, then the 2700X is the clear winner there. More cores generally means more multi-tasking as well.

Also, any B450 will work with a 2700X out of the box, while the 3600 requires an updated BIOS, which is currently only present out of the box with MSI's B450 (insert name) MAX motherboards, or X570.
If you want to save more money to allocate money elsewhere, you could opt for the 2700X and get an ASRock B450M Pro4 (or Steel Legend if you want RGB)

Do you think the 3600 and rtx 2060 super would be good enough for coding and gaming for the next 2 or more years at 1080p?
3600 with a MSI B450 tomahawk max board.

I don't believe coding really needs that much horsepower but ok?
coding would rely on probably ram and cores / vram
Either would be fine but since the 2700X is cheaper and still within 5 FPS of the 3600 but with more cores, 2700X is the better choice
loads of people are saying 3600 but you're saying 2700x, I think I'll just weigh the cons and pros, but if there's only a 5 fps difference I may go with the 2700x it also has a better cooler.
Which would last longer?

I think the 2700x is the better value and is more versatile as a whole. It'll also last longer because it has more cores. It will be better for anything that can make use of those cores like streaming or photo/video editing.
So, to confirm if you was in my shoes you'd go with a 2700x?
I honestly would prefer the 3600 but the 2700x has 2 more cores so if you need extra cores, go 2700x. if you need some sort of speed, 3600 and a motherboard with a updated bios
Would gaming require two extra cores, I'd maybe do editing and definitely do heavy programming, so I would assume the two extra cores would help, would I get 80+ fps in most games at 1080p with the 2060 super and 2700x?

Also, is the 2060 super a good card?

And will the 2700x with a b450 tomahawk work good?
