Windows 7 Setup not booting from USB [SOLVED]
I am attempting to install Windows 7 Home Premium from a USB on a friend's PC. When I boot it says "Windows failed to start" in the Windows Boot Manager. The error code is 0xc0000001. Is there a fix for this? I am using a SanDisk Cruzer Edge 32GB.
EDIT: I SOLVED THIS BY USING A DIFFERENT ISO. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP, EVERYONE!

Use Rufus 2.xx to make that media. As you need to select legacy mode bios MBR and fat32, not ntfs

When attempting to use MBR partition scheme for BIOS or UEFI-CSM with Fat32, it says "The file system currently selected can not be used with this type of ISO. Please select a different file system or different ISO."
Can I use UDF or FAT?

Does that usb have one partition that is locked and can't be deleted? I had one like that from SanDisk and because it has a tiny locked partition, it wasn't usable for OS media installers

I checked, just one partition. I think it's only the SanDisk Cruzer that has a locked partition.

Don't use fat32.. use ntfs
I did use NTFS. Windows 7's ISO is already on the USB, it just won't boot.

Try using legacy bios and ntfs
Nothing uefi.
Check your bios also before actual install and ensure that is on legacy bios, not uefi. And that sata is set to ahci, not ide

The error code might mean a ram issue, or corrupted usb and/or iso

Format the drive not quick format, then download the microsoft media creation tool and use that instead of rufus.
I googled 'Windows 7 media creation tool" and found the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool from the Microsoft Download Center. Now I'm formatting my drive

I used it, I'm getting the same error message again.

You said Windows Boot Manager, that might be the existing hard drive, make sure you are booting from the usb flash drive

to be clear, did you use rufus to create a bootable windows 7 usb installer?

...because rufus will create a bootable usb installer from the ISO.
the ISO is no longer found on the created installer.

you can create bootable usb installer in 2 modes:
GPT/UEFI
-or-
MBR

if a GPT/UEFI installer fails, recreate a bootable usb installer in MBR mode and vice versa.
(this is why i have both installers in case a problem arises.)

I used the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool. I am running it right now because I redownloaded by ISO and right now I'm going to see if Professional will work (I was using Home Premium before).

Also, I am going to set the USB as the #1 boot priority in my BIOS. Before, I just used the Boot Device Menu.

Well Professional won't do u any good if don't have a key for that. A Home key wont work for Pro

Yes always just set the usb flash drive only boot device in bios. After the os installer restarts the first time, then enter the bios and set your ssd or hdd that has the os now, as only boot device.
