Help installing OS on M.2 SSD
Just build a new pc and want to use an m.2 SSD for my os. However, in my bios the device is labeled with ‘PCIe device remapping’ and I can’t seem to install anything there when it’s labeled as such. Perhaps some settings stuff that idk about. My motherboard is an MSI A-Pro z270. Any help is appreciated! Many thanks.

Enter BIOS to ensure the M.2 SSD is being recognized by the motherboard.

The M.2 drive has to be the only drive installed.

Apologies. It’s an MSI A-pro z270 Motherboard that I am using. I’m looking in the bios however and I see no option for configuring the PCIe slot to m.2 mode (if I even worded that correctly). MSI’s bios seems a lot smaller and less customizable then Asus’...

I follow the video... when I turn the genie on however my M.2 is listed as a ‘non raid physical disk in the intel rapid storage technonoly tab. But when I run the bios with genie off and in ahci mode, the drive is suddenly usable and not listed with the status: PCIE Device (Remapping)
So should I just run everything in ahci mode instead and go from there? Sorry for any ignorance. I hardly even know what significance Raid has or doesn’t have.

No OS on that device. Plenty off other internet connected devices. Macs, Phones, Tablets and OP could even have an other PC or Laptop.
it has nothing to do with RAID. Its just OLDMAN liking to link random things not attached to the issue. RAID is a way to strip 2 or more drives into a single larger one with higher bandwidth or to mirror 2 or more tdrives into a redundancy setup.

As you only sue one drive, the question is what SSD you sue exactly. M.2 is just a form factor and connection type. It does say nothign about what SSD it is in particular or how it has to be setup.

There is the normal SATA SSD and the is a NVMe which requires the M.2 Slot to run in PCI-E 3.0 x4 mode.

However you might need a BIOS Update to get the M.2 Slot work proberly and last but not least always run it in AHCI and as UEFI not Legacy.
Which M2 ssd did you buy?
As for the bios, most will load up into simple or easy mode, click advanced mode where all the in depth options are located
certain M2's need to be partitioned before they can be used
