Samsung S8 doesn't detect music
I have this problem i'm super frustrated with. I learned you could download music onto your phone and play it. So I googled a video. Downloaded music to my PC, then moved it to my phone. It shows up on my files. But when I go to Samsung Music which is supposed to detect downloaded music, it doesnt. Same thing for alarms and ringtones. I tried restarting and doing a cache restart. help?

I tried

Restarting
Turning it on and off
Having it in mp4
Using a different player
Deleying the songs and redownloading them

Is it in a compatible format?

They should be mp3 or mp4
Just use a better app

No, android supports both formats.
I have had an S1, S4, S9. Always have used mp3 and mp4 for audio, no problems

Try VLC Media Player for Android. If even this app can't work on those files, then the problem likely lies with those files.

Yes that player works. I think it could be the location of my files, I do have an SD card. I dont know if that matters though

So I found the problem. I either have to remove the video part entirely, or change it into a .mp3 format which removes the video anyways. So now I have no thumbnail for the video, im not sure if you can even have a thumbnail for the video anyways.

Edit: found out how

Well if it's a video that tends to be a different player app. But yea VLC is good for any OS and offers playback for a very wide range of files, both audio and video types
