DDR3 to DDR4
My motherboard is Asus P8H61-MX R2.0
Currently I have 2x8gb ram ddr3.
Can I just buy ddr4 ram and replace?

Nope. You can’t. You’ll need to just buy DDR3 RAM, or upgrade the motherboard and CPU if you want DDR4.

No, DDR4 will not fit in your motherboard.

And I don't see any reason for you to upgrade your RAM. Assuming you are only doing gaming.

No, different ram have different pin out. Motherboard must support it.

Doesn't matter, you have plenty of ram and that's what counts. Newer gen platforms just happen to use ddr4 is all

there are a few ddr3+ddr4 mobos, but they should also be avoided
any cpu made for ddr4 should use ddr4

If I wanted to completely upgrade my pc by getting new ram new motherboard and cpu would changing motherboard change a lot about my pc?

You will have to replace the motherboard, CPU and RAM all at the same time.

New mobos don't use DDR3, your current CPU will not fit in modern motherboard, modern CPUs will not fit in your old motherboard etc..

What OS are you running?

I have the intel i7 3770 @3.4ghz so that won’t fit in any new motherboard

No, new motherboard would require ddr4 ram and support a different socket and thus, supported cpus

Upgrading that wouldn't be hard to do since you have Win10. I would just suggest uninstall all of the driver packages for current system via control panel > program and features before making your hardware swap

from 3rd to 8th or newer gen i series or amd would be best with a new os install

pick up a 240+g ssd for windows and a few games/programs and you can keep the steam install on the currend drive and swap over docs ect.. to the new os

The different cpu generations use different mobo sockets e.g. the 3770 uses an "LGA 1155" mobo. As you can see from the chart below of cpus there is nowhere to go with your current mobo as the 3770 is near the top of the pile.

The next major jump is to 8th or 9th gen cpus. You missed the generations in between. However without knowing what games you want to play and what graphics card and monitor you have it's hard to say which set up you would need. It might be that you just need a better graphics card. There is still a large number of people using 2nd and 3rd gen cpus.

No, the DDR4 bars are not compatible with your motherboard I can recommend you low budget:
MSI B360 GAMING PLUS Intel B360 So.1151 Dual Channel DDR4 ATX Retail
LG Pascal

This would reqire a CPU upgrade as well. Since it's LGA1151(v2) he'll need to get an 8th gen CPU.

Depending on what you are trying to play, I would get a better gpu first. Here is another chart listing gpus. It isn't totally accurate, but the 1050ti is down the list.

https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html

I used an i7-2600 and a 1080ti for 1080p 120hz gaming. The 1080ti is a little bit overkill for the cpu but I wanted something that would last and that would be appropriate for a better cpu.
