What is the best CPU cooler for the Node 202 case?
I know you can mod the case to fit a 120mm AIO cooler into a Node 202 but then that limits the size of GPU you can use quite a lot. As of now I assume the best option for air cooling would be a CRYORIG C7, but if that is out of stock what would be other powerful options that would fit this small case?

I would sacrifice GPU size for CPU cooling with a small case like that. Mini model GPUs are still good enough, though a blower style cooler would also serve you quite well in such a tight form factor.

120mm aio is no better than a 120mm air cooler

Noctua makes plenty of decent cooler similar to the C7

You didn't read his post properly, so I'll break down your mistakes:

-Not all pumps perform the same; the pump in a Deepcool 120EX RGB makes it better than a Cooler Master ML240L, because the pump in the latter model is just garbage, making it no better than the Wraith Prism cooler that comes with the 2700X, and the Hyper 212 EVO, and that's a 240mm unit. It's all about the pump, and the fan's ability to dissipate the heat.

-He's making a build with the Fractal Design Node 202 case, which is of the HTPC form factor and has a maximum cooler height of 56mm. All of the air cooling options are quite short, like the CRYORIG C7, and will be outperformed by a 120mm AIO pretty easily, especially since the tighter form factor means limited airflow options.

yes, a 240mm clc is better than a 120mm air cooler
but a 120mm clc is not better, it may be as good, but not better

most lay down coolers are crap

In an HTPC case, 120mm AIOs are better.

I know a air cooler like Hyper 212 is usually better than 120mm CLC. But it can't fit into a tiny case like Node 202. On the other hand, a 120mm CLC can.

And hot air gets trapped in Mini-ITX cases much more easily.
