And you shouldn't be running Windows Vista anymore. I recommend switching to Linux if you are stuck with this old laptop.
Watching video, doing office work and checking email can all be done on Linux also.
Do GoldSrc games (HL1, TFC) and Source games (HL2, TF2, Portal) work on Linux? All I see is the SteamOS logo and there is a SteamOS + Linux thing.
Yes these games work. Valve ported all their games to Linux. And Windows-only games can be played through Proton, a modified version of WINE which is included with Steam for Linux.
Allthough Proton will most likely not work (fully) due to lack of support for Vulkan on your hardware.
Also I may have another issue. I tried to boot Puppy Linux from disc and was brought to a black screen after it copied the files to my RAM (I have 2GB). Am I supposed to wait or is there a problem with it?
Disk could be bad, or it might have compatibility issues with your laptop.
You will have to install it if you want to game on Linux. You can't install software in a live environment.
You do have a 64-bit CPU right? Make sure to download the 32bit version if you don't.
I have a 32-bit CPU and I'm not sure if the website said anything about 32-bit and 64-bit downloads. I'll check now.
I downloaded the Ubuntu Bionic 32-bit version (BionicPup32 8.0) from Puppy Linux Home (puppylinux.com)
I'm going to try an older version of Linux and see if it works.
The latests version of Linux will run fine on 10-20 year old hardware.
Is it possible to install Puppy Linux and have Windows Vista still installed? I have two partitions on my laptop's Hard Drive.
