Why are people bashing Great Wall if Corsair are just rebranded Great Wall PSUs?
"Great Wall PSU's are made cheaply from Chinese manufacturers", "Walmart uses Great Wall PSUs xD, no wonder its garbage", "If you want your first PC to blow up, use a PSU from Great Wall!", "Corsair or EVGA are better PSUs then Great Wall".

This is EXACTLY what I read in the comment section when I was watching Steve at GamersNexus reviewing a Walmart PC lmao. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTni-Vfrf9c

Do people follow exactly what a TechTuber likes or dislikes blindly without research? I guess everything a person on YouTube says is 100% Gospel.

It was mostly about brand recognition. Great Wall doesn't market in EU or North America. It's a lot more popular in Asia. Great Wall PSUs are not great, but they are not terrible either, for the price, there is nothing wrong with them. Some models are great budget options.

Most people are simply not aware that many PSU "Manufacturers" don't really manufacture anything.

Here is a list of Corsair PSUs which also have the OEM listed:

It's mainly Channel Well Technology, a few Great Wall and Seasonic.

Great Wall is sold more in smaller cap markets. Not much demand for 500W PSU for a DIY build.

I use a Corsair HX1000i which has held up fine so far.

Order a line of products with specs in terms of quality and components used ≠ rebrand. Just because it's the same factory, doesn't mean it's the same level of attention, design and quality of components going into the final product.

Take for example these two "identical" tools:

PSU is an unexciting part of the PC, it is hard to benchmark, most user don't understand the benchmark results. Hence the are lots of misconception about it, even in this forum. It is easy to just repeat what others had said, thinking the other person knows his stuff, but that other people probably doesn't know ♥♥♥♥ either.

The only place I know that had people with good knowledge of PSU are in jonnyguru forum (there maybe other places as well, just that I don't know, but definitely not here)

For example, some people recommend unit such as seasonic s12 or EVGA 600br as a good budget option because seasonic and EVGA are great. These units are just as crap as other brands in the same price range, if you want decent unit, you need to go up to seasonic focus, EVGA G2 etc to get decent unit. People think the entire brand of PSU are good, that is wrong. The cheap seasonic, EVGA etc units are just as bad as their similiar priced competitors. Sure it is definitely not the worse, but definitely not the best either in that low price range.

You can get something more decent in that low budget range, just not the seasonic or EVGA units I mentioned.

The Gold silver bronze certificate are just efficiency not quality. So the Corsair cv is still worse than the CX even though they are the same bronze certificate.

Definitely one of the common misconceptions, see it a lot.

s12-III has been release more then 2 years ago. There also where refreshes of the S12-II. And it's a find budget PSU. Pricing differ especially in other countries where other brands as the mentioned Seasonic and EVGA cost half of the alterntiaves from the US which makes them then the best budget PSU's.

It's a huge mis-generalization that recommending the PSU's is a bad advice because of a pricing.

Recommendations also have to be made with the origin in mind not only to US market availability.
