2700X Manual Overclocking: Would it be worthwhile?
I've been pondering what I could pull off with my 2700X with a manual overclock.

Currently, I've been getting 4.5~4.6 on one core at a time with PBO enabled from 3DMark while generally keeping below 60 most of the time due to my Corsair H115i AIO and NT-H2 thermal compound. So the general way to look at it is, would a manual overclock pull better performance than just letting XFR2, PB2, and PBO do its thing?

Yes it is worth it if you are okay with troubleshooting, but does depends on the speed of your memory and motherboard. You probably can hit 4.1GHz on all cores if you set everything correctly.

You can always get a little performance gain with overclocking, but these processors simply don't go much beyond what they boost to automatically.

But go ahead and give it go if you want and report back to us your results.

Gigabyte X470 AORUS Gaming 7 WIFI, and Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3600 MHz CL18.
Definitely could try to tighten timings a bit more.
4.1 would be pointless because it already runs at that speed when gaming. My aim is more or less for at least 4.3.

I've been trying to find reddit's overclocking result chart for the 2700X, but haven't been lucky.

If at all. Some say you basically need a custom loop to reach 4.4 and beyond on all cores.

Good luck with that... especially with memory that has a CAS latency of 18. Most games only use 4 cores so maybe just overclock half the cores? (Although I am not sure how you would make the game not use the cores that aren't highly overclocked.) Either way if you get it to work you should tell everyone here what settings you put in the BIOS and what framerate improvements you get.

Will do, but it'll just be 3DMark and Cinebench.

Ryzen 7 2700X (3.7 GHz w/ PB Overdrive), 32GB DDR4-3600 CL18, X470 AORUS Gaming 7 WIFI:
Cinebench: 1557 - MAX TEMP 50 C
3DMark: 11062 (Time Spy) - MAX TEMP 52 C

2700X (@ 4.2 GHz, 1.325v Vcore, 1.225 SOC, no changes to RAM timings yet):
Cinebench: 1656 (+99) - MAX TEMP 64 C
3DMark: 11600 (+538) - MAX TEMP 62 C

2700X (@3.7 GHz, back to stock voltage, PBO enabled, LLC extreme, still no RAM timing edits):
Cinebench: 1590 - MAX TEMP 61 C
3DMark: 11462 - MAX TEMP 61 C

Attempted to adjust timings, but manually setting timings for some reason forces them to basically what you'd see of CL24, but with no performance difference. Not sure what the ♥♥♥♥ is going on.
