Even right now my System Commit is already at 21.3 GB and i am not even gaming.
By now you can get something like the 16 GB G.Skill Aegis DDR4-3000 for under 90 USD. Nobody can tell me that 90 USD must be reduced to 45 to get something better for the money.
And at some point you're definitely be happier than 16GB and no reason not to get it. So if someone is really railing against it, either they heard something quite a few years ago and seems to think it's true forever. Or they're only running 8GB and don't like the idea that might not be top tier anymore and are going to play the "necessity" card.
Friend is in need of watching some LTT at the least...
