Yeah, the HD colors are washed out & way too bright except on the primary ccolors. Red and blue show up nice, purple ok, but mixes like Orange and pink suck.
If you have a cramped case, I'd say the HD fans are better, but if you have decent airflow in your case, visually, the LL fans are much better.
Both the HD as well as the LL shouldn't run at full speed. 60-70% is more then enough and give great cooling performance. Corsair fans excel at lower RPM unlike Noctua fans which only perform good at high RPM.
Alternatively you have the ML RGB. RGB wise they are like the LL without the outer RGB ring (only 4 led in the inner fan ring) but since they are magnetic levatation instead of ball bearing they are even more silent.
(I also own both and work with all 3 on daily basis)
