[LINUX, STEAMCMD] Waiting for user info...FAILED. Timed out.
rented a new rootserver. now i have the problem that i can't login with my username.

Steam>login [****]
Logging of current session...OK
Logging in user '****' to Steam Public ...
Logged in OK
Waiting for user info...FAILED. Timed out.
OK

when i try to install something
Steam>app_update 294420 validate
ERROR! AppInfo request for AppId 294420 returned error 16.

(AppID doesn't matter, i tried different games too, as long as i use my account instead of anon, i get this error)

with anonymous login everything works fine, but 7dtd needs an account with purchase..

On the original Server it also still works, no problem there, just on the new servers (yes i actually bought 2 new server) (all of them debian 9)

I am getting this as well. Unable to install or validate since it always times out on waiting for user info. Let me know if you happen to solve your issue.

well my hoster havent found a solution and steam tells me that they dont give support for dedicated servers..

i settled with it for now and use steamcmd (that works, even though i can't login), and hope it will work sometimes in the future when i need to login again

Got this working, but it required going back to an older kernel. The issue seems related to this: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/6326

Hopefully that helps you out.

mh shouldn't be the problem. The oldest server, where i can successfully logon, runs the same kernel than my new server. But i will try that, thank you!

ERROR! Timed out waiting for AppInfo update.

we have different problems, because i can't retrieve user info - u can! i think your problem isn't related to steam, but to the game. try installing another game, if that works it could prove that.

Debian 10 "Buster" fixed it for me. Now i'm able to login again.

Thank you all!

On Debian 9 Stretch now work or need upgrade server?

it didn't worked for me on Deb 9 Stretch. but after the Update to Deb 10 Buster it worked again!

Guess Steamcmd doesn't support Deb 9 anymore. Or maybe some dependencies.

Debian upgrade to 10 Buster was resolved my issue as well!
Thank you so much!

This timeout waiting for user info is happening constant. Any help would be greatly appreciated! EDIT: I'm using Arch Linux.

Steam>login anonymous

Connecting anonymously to Steam Public...Logged in OK
Waiting for user info...FAILED. Timed out.
OK

I run into the same problem but for Valheim server on Ubuntu. For anyone who might find this problem in google, this command: "sudo ip link set dev eth0 mtu 1450" solved my issue
