How bad would a bottleneck be if I pair an GTX 1660 TI with an I5-4460
So, I'm thinking about upgrading my rig in 5 years or so, atm i have an AMD R7 250, and i plan on buying an 1660 next month since the r7 can run most games 720p pretty well but just drops around 60-80% of the fps if i switch to 1080p, so how bad of a bottleneck would i get, and is it worth to go for the 1660 until I get a new cpu if that is absolutely nescessary.
P.s i mostly play games that arent too demanding like insurgency and warframe, but i do play bf1 and 4 sometimes, so i would like to know how it would impact those games (i get stable 50fps on 720p low in bf1 and 60fps in bf4 720p medium)

It will be fine.

If you can get your hand on a 4770 on the cheap it would be a nice upgrade to give you a year or two more.

Cool, thanks for the reply, i'll look into the 4770 and see how low i can get it for.

I could afford an RTX 2060, but i since i can get the 1660 ti for about a 100 less than the RTX, i thought that its way better price for performance buying the 1660 since from what i know they are pretty similar with the exception of the 2060 having ray tracing and costing more.

My idea was to get a new gpu, since the one i have right now is not too good, and then either a cpu if the bottleneck is bad or 8 more gigs of ram, so that i have 16. Maybe even a stick of 12 gigs and get 20 though i think that would be overkill for gaming since the most i have personally a game use is 13 gigs wihich was witcher 3 with a bunch of graphical improvement mods, and i mean a lot of them.

4770/4771/4790 will be good alts for cpu upgrades in that board

1660ti is a step up from the 1060, so this will give you an idea of what a worst case scenario will look like.

It won't perform at its max, as 1060 is roughly the max for such a cpu as that. And 1660 Ti is closer to 1070 or 1070 Ti

But it would be better then an older/slower gpu still. And would be fine to move that gpu into a newer system down the road when you are able to get a newer mobo, cpu and ram
