xbox 360 wireless receiver with USB 3?
Hey folks,

I recently tried to use my xbox 360 controller, with my PC. As usual after not using it for a while, i had to install the wireless receiver drivers manually using the "browse my computer" option.

I have done this loads of times perfectly fine in the past.

However i cant remember if the last time i did it was before i upgraded my Motherboard.

Anyway, now i seem to have the issue:

"This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Insufficient system resources exist to complete the API."

I have tried everything, and all guide i can find searching, even to the point where i was tryuing to find the upper and lower filters in registry (they didn;t exist it seemed, so nothing to delete).

The only thing i can think of, is that my MOBO is fully USB3. I have no USB2 ports on the machine at all.

I'm just wondering if anyone else is having issues with the wireless receiver on USB3 ports?

I have tried the front and rear ports, and have the same issues.

I have tried uninstalling, and reinstalling the drivers with no joy.

Otherwise, does anyone have any reccomendations on how i can get the xbox 360 controllers working without the wireless receiver? I'm under the impression i can get a cable, but would prefer wireless.

My only other thought is that i could use my PS4 controller some how. But i have found its not very reliable in the past.

All suggestions are welcomed

Thanks In Advance

360 wireless controller can't work via wired.

You sure you are pointing to the correct driver for the receiver.

It should be labeled as
Microsoft xbox 360 wireless receiver.

Controllers are a seperate device and those do not show up until receiver is installed and go through pairing the controller to the receiver via the connect button process.

Google... xbox 360 wireless Microsoft catalog
and get both sets of drivers from there. Extract to a folder on C drive amd then plug in the device and go to device manager amd manually point to the driver you extracted

Hi,

Thanks, That sort of fixed it.

I searched the catalogue as you suggested, and found a "microsoft xbox 360 accessories" app.

Once installed, i found there were new options to select when manually installing the drivers. and the dates now showed. It seems the one i was trying to use was dated 2009, whilst the new ones were dated 2019.

The controller appears to be working.. So thanks for the nudge in the right direction.

To pair a controller, turn on controller, press and hold the button on the receiver, when the led starts flashing, quickly press the connect button on the controller. Once paired the controller shoukd now have a solid green led in the upper left to signal that it is controller 1 / player 1
