Report a translation problem
I glanced at the product page for that Asus laptop as well as the manual and saw no mention of the USB-C port supporting display output. Given that and your experience I would say it is safe to assume that it does not.
my friend's laptop the Lenovo Legion Y520 can output Display using her Type C port, in the Lenovo specs page it only says USB Type C 3.1 :/ the same as my ROG laptoo
Look in the actual full pdf manual and if the type-C can be used to output a display, it should explain that in there as part of all the details about using your system in general.
There are also different generations of USB 3.1 Gen1 and Gen2
