Comparing to the C24FG73 it looks very similar, the only feature it has over the AOC are "quantum dots"[en.wikipedia.org], which should give it more color gamut - not sure if it would be worth the extra price.
But, 144hz doesn't ''FIX'' screentearing, but if you've got the FPS to back it up, you probably won't see it all that much; you could even run Vsync and it not feel all that laggy. (Because you're updating 144 times a second instead of 60.)
It's a little more expensive, but it's a better monitor.
1440p, 144hz, TN panel with great average pixel response time, and low input lag, great viewing angles, and colour accuracy. Plus it's got G-Sync, which IS better than freesync. (But it doesn't really matter.)
If you don't have the hardware to push 100>FPS all the time in 1440p, I wouldn't consider it, unless you're planning to upgrade any time soon.
It's better to go for a 1080p144hz monitor if you don't have the hardware to push 1440p144hz.
The difference between the two you've got there are;
The Samsung one has better colour accuracy, and will have deeper blacks, but higher average pixel response times. (Possibly has an ''overdrive'' feature which should improve this, but I don't know, I haven't looked if it does.)
And the AOC one has slightly worse colour accuracy, and will have worse blacks, but lower average pixel response times, and less input lag.
(Lower pixel response = less ghosting.)
Still, even though the AOC has 'worse' colour accuracy, it's still more than acceptable.
I've read that AOC also has ♥♥♥♥ anti-glare coating on some models, apparently ''it looks like there's a flim grain filter over the monitor.''
(Talby, can you speak to the quality of the anti-glare on the C24G1?)
(Because it takes longer (on average) for pixels to respond, than it does for the monitor to display another frame.)
I'd have a look if it has an overdrive feature, if it does, then decide from there.
What do you want it for?
Gaming, more competitive oriented?
Media, videos, photo viewing, enjoyable super colour accurate experience?
Ignore what response time they say it is, because ''1ms'' / ''2ms'' or some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like that is almost always 'fastest measured pixel response time.'
You go by averages, lower average = better, higher average = worse.
Also my current monitor's response time is 3ms, so it should be a visible upgrade.
And, I would go for the AOC C24G1 then. Personally.
UNLESS
What was the AVERAGE response time with the 'overdrive' mode enabled?
