16gb RAM Installed, only 8 being used?
So I have 16gb installed and my Control Panel knows it, but in task manager I am currently using around 2gb of Memory total and its saying 25%. Making me think its only using 1 of the RAM sticks. Extremely confused.

Second issue: When I put my PC to sleep, instead of going to sleep it stops displaying anything IE Monitors go to sleep, but the PC stays on... and if I click a button the display comes back as if nothing happened.

Extremely confused x2. Help me :D

first of all a laptop is the only pc you should put to sleep, on top of that, why dont you be sure that your ram is plugged all the way in and locked by the pin. power the pc back on enter your bios and it should say how much ram is installed, otherwise update the bios and or you have a dead ram slot. and if your just idle at the desktop, how do you expect any usage to be higher than idle percentages? check your bios for the ram amount

Well I was just seeing what it thought it was using and comparing to what it should be using, but control panel says ive got 16gb installed so surely its plugged in properly. I will however go give it a shove and then check in bios thank you.

what your doing is you dont say if its a laptop or desktop but i assume a desktop since you say re fitting your ram, putting the desktop in sleep mode which is a laptop feature, basically pulls power from most parts in your hardware and can be potentially dangerous i can share Carry Holzman vids on proof of this.

the more you power it on and off is the taking away days from life span laptop dont matter due to heating problems, but suit yourself, yet again man i have no idea what your asking since you say your pc is reading the full amount of ram. if it reads 16gb ram and you have only installed 16gb ram then your good my brotha

If your PC recognizes that you have 16GB correctly, then there's no problem. You don't want it to use all of your RAM all at once, because that would be a problem.

if its a laptop with integrated graphic maybe the missing 8gb in taskmanger are used as igpu memory
