Mousepads
So I was wondering what types of pads are good, currently I am using the Glorious Odin Model O mouse with a Steelseries QCK mousepad. I was thinking about switching to a plastic pad, but I heard that those types will wear down the mouse skates faster. I am eyeing on the Glorious Helios pad and wondering if it is good and if it would last longer for my mouse skates versus the other brands.

Even for plastic? People say it scrapes the mouse feet and wears it down. Is the Glorious Helios mouse pad made differently, does it last longer for mouses?

Tried metal, plastic, and cloth mouse pad, and i barely noticed any difference. What you need to watch out is reflective stickers that some manufacturers add to their mousepad. That can flick your mouse movement.

From my experience, you have bigger chance of ruining the left click and scroll wheel first than the mouse feet. Changing mouse feet is not expensive, nor it's difficult, so you shouldnt worry abt it too much.

Mouse ergonomics and sensor imo are much more important/impactful

Don't worry about feet wearing down, if you plan to use the mouse for a while, just buy a set (or two) of replacement feet.

As for mousemats, I can vouch for the Steelseries QcK+, it's great and served me well for years.

However I was looking into the Roccat Taito Control a while back, not sure on the quality though.
I hear the Razer Goliathus is pretty decent as well.

Stitched edge doesn't really matter (At least in my experience), I've owned stitched edge, and non-stitched.
The only ones that've frayed on me are the tiny pads, which you shouldn't be buying anyway.
I've had my QcK+ for about 2 and a half years (or more), and I've had very limited issues with fraying. Only in one corner. (But I rotate the mousepad often, so I don't wear one spot out.)

Also, kind of a non-issue with stitched edges, they've got a little 'lip' on your mousepad that can be discomforting.

I will have a look into the Glorious mousemat. Because I was curious myself.
And, just wondering, how is the mouse? I was thinking of getting one myself, I've seen loads of reviews, but they don't really speak to 'day to day' use.
(And is the 'pressing the side in to click the buttons' thing that big of a deal?)

Ah I see I will ride it out with the QCK, and the model O is fantastic it is light looks great, and has zero issues for me. I use this mouse everyday, I play A LOT of csgo, Rainbow 6 siege, and Battlefield 5 all the games and the mouse feels buttery smooth I would recommend it.

Depends on your mouse (sensor type and grip type) to what works best.

However, I personally like the "Razer Goliathus - Speed Edition" mouse pad. Works with most sensor types, flat, soft, and smooth fast performance upon it.

I am currently using the ROG Strix Edge mouse pad. coupled with my ROG Gladius II mouse it works well. The software for the mouse actually has profiles built in for different mouse pads which seem to make the mouse respond better when the correct surface is selected.
Massive fabric desk pads, razor goliathus clones are on ebay for a song. I prefer the one with a more micro fiber towel type finish.

Thanks this will help a lot
Problem is you aren't going to find a metal or plastic desk sized mat at reasonable cost, unlimited mousing space and not having to deal with a keyboard sitting unevenly because one side rides on a mat is only a cloth mat thing at the moment.
