The 2200g will struggle with some games through.
PS: Brand does not really matter.
The 2200g isn't a very powerful CPU and will hold back more powerful GPUs.
Otherwise he might buy twice.
I have a 1080 paired with my daughters 1200@3.9 and it rarely sees close to 100% usage. She will soon have my old 1600@3.9 when I upgrade to the 3000 series.
For example I have no idea how these things mix, do the Vega graphics just become obsolete and be switched or turned off with the GPU added, or do they mix for slightly more push?
Which one you use in desktop use, is soley depending on where you connect the monitor. If it is connected to the motherboard (integrated) or to the GPU.
If you intent to change the CPU, I wouldn't worry about a CPU bottleneck. It will resolve itself when upgrading the CPU. Otherwise you buy now a slightly better GPU, then a new CPU and then start replacing your GPU again - buy twice.
Currently most games I have played from older ones like Fallout 4 to newer games like Mordhau I have been able to get good frames. FO4 I can get near 40 frames with some settings pumped up and res 1920x1080, and Mordhau I can get 60 frames with the res down to something like 1080x720.
My aim really is to get the correct GPU that would allow these games to reach 60FPS on 1920x1080 res, really. Nothing too bumped up, no 4K.
It sounds like the 1060 is what I was after.
Can you tell me the proper name of it?
RTX1060ti or something?
Thanks!
Because I could probably get a really good deal on a 1060 if so, which was recommended to me this past January, when I built the PC from scratch.
Newer stuff costs $$$$ here
Edit: was told to wait a little while anyway so I could get a really good deal on a 1060, so that is half of why I am asking now, to see what is what and where things are at.
Like suggested you could go with a stronger GPU but I see way too many people on forums complain of stuttering and slowdowns while playing with unbalanced rigs. If your CPU can't keep up with your GPU it can give you a much worse experience at times.
