Ram Compatibility
Hi,

Not sure if this ram works with this motherboard.
Can someone verify?
I just need 1x8GB of compatible ram preferably 2400-2666

Ram : HX426C16FB2/8 (Kingston HyperX Fury Black DDR4 2666MHz 8Go)
Motherboard: MSI B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC

I appreciate any thoughts

First problem is that 2666 MHz is not enough for Ryzen, you need a minimum of 3000 MHz CL15 or 3200 CL16 to get good performance. An exception can be made with 3000 series as you can overclock the infinity fabric itself, but it's easier and safer to just get faster RAM. If you get less than 3000 MHz for 1st and 2nd gen, you'll have to overclock the RAM because Ryzen performance is greatly improved by faster RAM as the infinity fabric is tied to pretty much everything, and there is no infinity fabric tweaking for 1000 and 2000 series.

Use QVL for best best of success without issue.

Thanks.

I'm not going to buy something expansive, that's why I want only a 8GB ram.

I forgot to say that the CPU is a Ryzen 5 2400G.

I listened to you and I found this ram :
BLS8G4D32AESBK (Crucial Ballistix Sport LT Gray DDR4 3200MHz 8Go)

I think it's better now.

if using its igp, its igpu performance is directly proportional to ram speed/performance
a dual ch kit will nearly double its gpu performance

the iGPU eats at least 2GB RAM to be sued as VRAM. so you should go with 2x8GB DDR4-3200 as the iGPU in your case is tied to RAM performance and you need the bandwidth of dual channel for iGPU load.
I fyou reuse your old RAM stick, then it will hold back the new one as they cant be different timings and frequency and the worst settings going to be used.
