my microphone is way too quiet
i got the steelseries arctis 3 and the same problem happened with a a pair of logitech headphones too. i have tried adjusting the levels, the boost, the default format tried trouble shooting and even tried the steelseries software but that doesnt even pick it up. it cant be the headset as it was the same for both so it has to be a setting or something.

Then 3rd party software such as SteelSeries wouldn't find it, as it would need to be connected via usb for that to work. If connected via 3.5mm jack on Motherboard, then you are using that onboard audio to drive the connected device, such as Realtek.

Download and install the official audio driver from your motherboard maker to ensure Windows is providing all available audio options to you. As it will not do this if you are just using the OS generic hd audio built in driver.

search up who made your motherboard (like asrock or msi) then go on their website and search for your model board. there should be an option to download drivers.

Is the headset 3.5mm analog jack, or is it USB?

No, just go get the HD Audio driver from Realtek.com
