realtek mic playback volume doesn't work with bluetooth audio?
When I'm plugged in with my ath m40x I can hear my mic perfectly when I have playback volume turned up in realtek hd audio manager but as soon as I switch to my headphones connected to my mpow via bluetooth that audio goes away. Is there a way to fix this, or is that just something that happens?

Changing devices doesn't change what the default is, change the defaults for both.

Oh, you know what... bluetooth audio has nothing to do with realtek hd audio... I guess that might be why lol
Where is the mic though? Is that connected to the realtek or is that onboard the bt headset?

You can use both devices at the same time. For example audio out via bt headset while using realtek 3.5mm for the microphone

I'm basically trying to listen to auxiliary audio through a bluetooth audio method. I know I do that through listen to this device in properties, but there's a big delay so It's basically worthless. When I have my wired headphones plugged in realtek hd audio manager has an option to turn up the mic playback which yields lag free playback. I just want to be able to do that with my bluetooth headphones.
Why not just use a 3.5mm headset? BT on PC is basically garbage

Well, it's actually not lol.. Bluetooth 4.0 with the mpow (https://www.amazon.com/Mpow-Bluetooth-Receiver-Hands-Free-Assistant/dp/B075JBLGLB/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=mpow+bluetooth&qid=1565039109&s=gateway&sr=8-1) actually sounds great with a nice pair of headphones
bt is still crap next to analog audio

to output an input you need to go to sound, recording tab, for that device properties
and tick the box for 'listen to this', and select the playback device

then in windows mixer you will get a volume control for that device
it will work, but add about 250-1000+ms delay ontop of the bt compression delays
