Will 8gb vram be enough at 1440p in 2020+ ? (2080 8gb vs 1080 ti 11gb)
So right now I cant decide betwewen 1080 ti or 2080. I've found that the 2080 is cheaper than the 1080 ti but it only has 8gbvram vs 11gb on the 1080 ti.

So does anyone know if I'll be fine with 8gb vram at 1440p in latest games for at least 2 years?

depends on the games

res does not use much more frame buffer ram (about 16mb for each 1080p 32bit color depth display, 1440p is about 32mb)

a majority of vram is used for models, textures and lightmpas ect..

when you need more vram you will need a stronger gpu
you cant just add vram to a gpu, and often when a weak gpu is produced with excessive amounts its not intended for gaming

Most games nowadays will hit the maximum processing performance of the GPU itself long before the VRAM gets filled up. VRAM was a concern back when even the top tier graphic cards were barely accommodated with 4GB and running games on ultra at 1080p could get tricky.

8GB is generally enough for most situations
If the VRAM ever does get maxed out though the GPU will start using Physical RAM to make up the difference (Shared Memory as shown in the Task Manager).
