I´m experiencing "Screen-Tearing" issues
Hi guys, first of all, I´ve tried almost everything in order to fix the tearing screen problem: V-Sync (I hate input lag), rivatuner Scanline-Sync and frametime limit, Fast-Sync, Adaptative-Sync, limit my fps to 60...

My config: GTX 1060 6GB, Display Benq RL2455 60Hz (x3) and no Free/G-Sync, i5-6500.

The problem: My fps count is usually higher than my display refresh rate (60Hz). In so many games like Warframe and Destiny there´s an option where you can cap your fps to 60, 120, 144... so I cap them to 60fps, the common tearing we know disappears but suddenly it shows up a big tearing line in the middle of the screen.

It starts from the top and goes down the screen until it arrives to the bottom, then it starts from the top again. The problem started like 2-3 weeks ago and I don´t remember a time before that where I had the same problem (probably I didn´t notice because I have almost never limited my fps count.

The way I play now is just not limiting the fps and sometimes using fast-sync, but there´s still some annoying tearing. I´ve learned a lot about the problem and I know that not even G-Sync or Free-Sync could even fix it, as they only work when your fps count is below your display Hz

Tearing should not move down. Its just happening in the image, as its not one refresh.

V sync did never cause input lag for me.

What happened around the time it started?

When I uncap the fps there´s tearing, like normal tearing, some lines that "split" the screen. I have heard that that´s a problem related to the no-syncronization between the gpu frames and the display Hz, so I cap them at 60fps. And that´s when the big line appears and starts to move, it´s just one line. I don´t even know if that´s tearing but produces the same effect, it´s imposible for me to play like that
There is no need to have more fps than the screen.

You could try adaptive v sync. So it only acts if there are different fps than the screen fps.

Depending on the game, v-sync is the devil in person. Just sayin'.

Yes, the thing is that I´ve tried using the same amount of fps as my monitor can display (60fps-60Hz) and the big tearing line shows up.

Adaptative sync is something I used too but that only works when the fps are different than my monitor hz.

When my fps are locked at 60 I still have screen tearing problems. It´s so so weird man

I don´t like v-sync. But in games like the division 2 I turned it on and works well (I don´t see any big input lag issue). But imagine that input lag in games like csgo/ow...

Mouse acceleration and smoothing is that already.

What i would recommend for the problem, trying another monitor. Just to see if its a general problem.

I´ve got 3 monitors, they all are the same monitor. Have tried two of them and the problem is still there. I´ll try with other monitor but wow... mi monitors are 160-200$
Better ask in a hardware forum.
I havent seen moving down tears apart from when a camera films an old monitor. Flat screens do not paint the image in lines. So there is not this moving line.

Let us know what you find out in the hardware forum. Maybe i am wrong.

I will. The line is probably the craziest thing I´ve ever seen in PC gaming, I´ll try to find someone who has seen this legendary tearing line xd
Ok, let's boil it down. Enable vsync in your game and if it doesn't cause input lag, call it a day. If ir dors, see if FPS limiting helps and if it doesn't, look for Gsync/Freenync.
V-sync works nice but the input lag is enough for me to hate that option. Non-viable for me. I have just tried playing on another old monitor and still having the same problem. My current monitor is good for games, 1ms TN panel, built for competitive games and so on, so I don´t think its a problem related to my monitor.
Big question: is screen-tearing happening to everyone when having higher fps than Hz monitor refresh rate?? That´s sooo bad, even to ppl that cap fps to 60?
I see it all the time, even with a frame rate cap. My next monitor will be a gsync/freesinc one as vsync kills games for me due to half/thirdth second input lag.
Tell someone to enable or disable v sync randomly and then you play. Just to check if the input lag is evident enough without knowing its on.

Best without feedback for a time of several tries not in a row.

man I´m not that kind of casual gamer. I´ve been playing competitive games so many years, I notice when I´m playing with lag or not,

I just want to have the best gaming experience possible without paying too much for a monitor. Can play with vsync in games like the division 2 and d2, no overwatch and csgo...
