70 C GPU 90C CPU. is it normal?
I have a lenovo legion y7000 laptop gtx1060 I7 8750
and these are the max temps I'm getting while gaming on the highest settings on the games i play

I'm just asking if these temps are normal and if they hurt my laptop
Keep in mind I live in Iraq where the room temperature is 30-28 with AC

Get a air cooling pad with decent fans and coverage.

Overall yes that is fairly normal temps to get while gaming on a laptop. It's near the thermal throttling area but if it's not having low fps issues, then it's not throttling just yet. Try to keep it below 95*C and it should be fine. With places like Iraq you have alot of dust and sand so try to keep the fan and vents cleared/cleaned over time as they'll easy get clogged up.

do what bad motha said

my laptop had the same problem; my vga module/card heat pipe leaked all the magic fluid out and was just a copper stick connected to a blower. it was so hot to the touch it was painful--90C is really hot. I even had burn marks inside the laptop . I am fortunate it did not go poof.

I ended up buying a replacement heatpipe/heatsink assembly for my laptop model on ebay from some used/reseller vendor, and buying a $25 air cooler laptop pad with 5 fans. temps are back down to 35C idle on it--which is lower than it normally had before I had to replace the heat pipe.

70C is pretty good for a laptop GPU actually
The CPU is what could use some help
As mentioned, a laptop cooler is probably needed
And making sure the laptops air vents are not covered, such as if the laptop is on anything but a FLAT surface.

laptops are designed to run hot
as other said, get a cooling pad

They aren't designed to run hot, the heat is just a downside of the platform being so small that all it can really fit is cheap and tiny cooling solutions that don't work well.

It is a definite fact that the 8750H is a cpu that gets HOT. Many people have had issues with this.

In addition to using a proper cooling pad, try undervolting. It can work wonders (I managed to shave off about 10 degrees on my laptop). Start with something like -100 mv and work your way lower. I think people have gotten it to as low as -180 but even -120 should be fine as long as your laptop does not crash during cpu intensive tasks.

Cooling pads don't help much. Try something like this[www.amazon.com].

All that does is increase the amount of air coming out of a vent, assuming it even lines up with the vents of his laptop. No different than setting up a small vacuum cleaner hose up to the vent and turning the vacuum on.

It does have good reviews, but if it ends up not fitting his laptop it would be a waste, a cooling pad doesnt have that limitation.

I saw several specimens that literally melt through around the place CPU is located...

Using laptop I always go for "better/balanced performance" instead of "best performance" in the power mode scroll settings. In adition I changed the CPU max power to 99% in advanced settings (It was a tip that I read on the internet).

As peole said, a laptop cooling pad will give extra space from the table and extra refrigeration to your PC.

With this my machine run games at ~80º at most (CPU).
