If you go for it, see if the ball screws off. If it does you are in luck and will more or less be able to put anything you want to on there. If it does not then you are a bit more shafted. If the ball doesnt come off but the stick does, you are kinda in the middle, as you will have to put allot more work into fabricating the shaft correctly than just drilling and tapping the hole as you wold for a new ball topper.
If you are luck enough to just screw the ball off, then find what you want on there, put a hole of the correct size in it, thread it and call it golden.
As for caring case, I would just keep the topper in a spare (nice) bag or something, and then when you set up you will be kinda cool as the guy who has to screw his stick on, kinda like having to install the steering wheel before a ace...
