Lenovo Thinkcentre M81 and RX 460

I was given a Lenovo M81 desktop from my nan (building she works at just got new machines). Has a SandyBridge i5 2400 and 280 watt PSU in it, and I found a good deal on an RX 460, however the system refuses to post properly with the card installed. I know the card is working because I put it in my main PC and Windows booted without any issues once it recognized the change. I installed the latest bios from Lenovo's website and tried again to no avail. Later tried an R7 240 and HD 5450, both of which also did not allow the PC to post. The only GPU I was able to have installed in the PC was an Nvidia 8400 GS from a really old Dell my cousin gave me.

Will AMD cards just not work in the system? I almost pulled the plug and got a GT 1030 but I thought I'd post something here before letting the 460 go to waste.

True, but the system should still use no more than 200 watts under load. Also, it's not even loading the BIOS, which gets me to believe it's not the PSU.

The motherboard can take a standard size power supply from EVGA or Corsair, and I planned on upgrading in the future regardless, but seeing as the 460 doesn't require any connections from the PSU, buying a new one doesn't sound like a fix.

RX 460 is 75W card, 8400 GS is 30W card, it`s kinda obvious why 8400 GS works and RX 460 doesnt.

Altough you said that you tried R7 240 that is also 30W card so results are kinda inconclusive.

I'm debating on buying a GTX 750 I found at a decent price. I'm pretty confident it would work without a problem, and even if it doesn't, I have another PC I could put it in so the investment wouldn't be a waste. The 460 I'm selling to a friend for his PC.
