2070 Super vs 2080 ti

Currently have the 2070 Super but am wondering if it'd be worth returning for the 2080 ti to pair with my i9-9900k. I game at 1080p @ 144hz. While both cards are great, is the 2080 ti worth it for longevity reasons? I want something for the next 3+ years. The 2070 super is a fantastic card at about 60% the price of the 2080 ti.
In a lot of games, I see the 2080 ti consistently hitting 20-40fps over the 2080 ti. For 1080p 144hz,

if you are willing to spend a lot for the 80ti go for it, if you are happy with the 70 super keep it, it will work for many years too, the difference is minimal but the price is higher.

It's only about an avarage of 18% faster over the games tested at 1080p if you think this is worth a 70% price difference that's up to you.

The gap gets bigger as you go up in resolution but I would say at 1080p it's not worth it.

As FeilDOW said above, it's not actually worth an 18% gain at 1080p for a 70% higher cost. You only need a 2080 Ti if you want maximum performance at 1440p 144 Hz+ or 4K 60Hz+

No, save your cash and buy the next gen xx80 card instead, it will perform better than a 2080ti, besides, you are only at 1080p, so, a 2070S is more than up for the job, a 2080ti would be a waste of money.

I recently upgraded from a gtx 970 and 1080p monitor to a 2080ti with an IPS 1440p, 144hz free-sync, but did so for top end horsepower to run my games at the highest settings. No plans to go 4k, 1440p is the sweet spot for me. Once you've played at 1440p with no discernible screen tear, micro-stuttering or ghosting, it's hard to go back. The 2070 super is more then enough card for 1080p, and would run 1440p very well.

Keep the 2070 super and save the difference. Set it aside to drop on the next release that's that much money. Should be better than your 2070 super.

One thing though I see in videos all over Youtube is that the 2070 Super has a hard time hitting 144fps 1080p in most games or barely hits it in a lot of cases. While less, I could come down from high to med settings but that's not really appealing when upgrading. Where as the 2080 ti is pushing 180, 190fps in a lot of those games.

You don't need 144fps, due to essentially diminishing returns the higher the fps gets, 100fps is WAY more noticeable over 60fps vs 140fps over 100fps.

For me, I find 100fps over 60 a huge improvement, 100-120 is subtle and honestly, above 120, it's hard to notice any difference, especially with GSYNC.

Agreed, I run a 2560x1080 144hz display and a rift-s on a gtx 1080 and it performs great for me. I assume the 2070 super has a little extra beef than mine, too.

The 1080ti is slightly faster than the 2070 Super. I don't know, I just feel like I'd rather have something do more than what I need it to do then have something that almost or barely does. I mean, what's the point of 144 hz if you can't use it to it's potential?

It's smoother, but its most noticable when you don't have it at that frequency any more, as opposed to upping to that frequency and comparing the difference, if that makes sense.

anyway get the best video card you can afford and then use it until you have to ask for advice on a new card again. If you buy a good card, it'll last you a few years.

If you buy a good monitor, it might last you a few cards--I have a 1920x1200 monitor I spent a small fortune on many years ago that still works no matter what card I've attached to it over the years.

I think I may just got the 2080ti and be done with the questioning and anxiety about picking a card haha. What monitor is it that you have? :0

Unless you upgrade the monitor, you will be throwing money away going for a 2080ti, but, it's your money.
