PSA Hardware Depreciation exist people.
If your trying to sell your hardware. Remember that no one will pay what you paid for when you bought it.

An example is a guy selling his GTX 970 on Facebook stating that he paid $550 CDN for it and is asking for $500 CDN. With that price I would walk to my local MemoryExpress and buy a 1660 TI that would crap on it for less.

But pretty much to conclude this don't buy used or older computer parts if the price isn't atleast 50% off of what the MSRP prices it at. If the person is charging 80-90% of the MSRP you might aswell buy it new, because you atleast get a piece of mind then if you were to buy it from a stranger.

Happens a lot, best to accept it because people can be greedy. I see ridiculous ads where people try to sell used i5-6600K systems for way more than they're worth.

Yup. The i5 6600k performance wise is only worth $100 bucks nowadays considering you get very similar performance with a i3 8100.

And there are people who don't show the inside of the case and don't give all of the details. Just found one listing in my area for a system with a "6-core i7 3.8 GHz" cooled by a "high end liquid cooler" on an "MSI motherboard" with a GTX 1060 6G. Included is a nasty oily keyboard, mouse, headset, and monitor, all for 1400$ in Canadian dollars. Problem is, it could be a first generation i7, or an 8th gen.

Not just similar performance, exactly the same performance.

But yeah, people ask WAY to much money for hardware that they've used.
For instance; people selling old i7-6700k's (We don't know how much they've been ''ruined'' by overclocking either), and they're asking 200 dollars for it.
For 200 dollars, you can buy a R5 3600......Get more performance, and get 2c4t more; and if you buy a motherboard to go with it, you've got an actual upgrade path, because you can get up to 16c32t on the same socket.

I don't understand lots of people selling stuff on the used market.
The only time I think it's acceptable, is if you're making PCs with modern (or near modern) parts, with a custom loop; because that ♥♥♥♥ costs money, and time.
However, other stuff should be sold for it's performance, and maybe a little less for being used.

Sometimes you are getting a good deal. For example got this R9 390 for 70 CDN, problem is the 2 fan wings of the fan blade 1 and 2 are missing, other then that its a perfectly working GPU and he was honest about it.

Though I do agree. There are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who OC their PC and when it malfunctions they sell it for a high price without telling the person. I had this defective rx 570 and demanded a refund once I found artifacting in farcry 4. Luckily he gave it to me (Probably because I said it angrily lol) however not everyone is lucky and may have to resort to civil lawsuits.
