Saitek/Logitech Pro Flight Yoke Mode switch no longer recognized
After the original installation of my Saitek/Logitech Pro Flight Yoke, the Mode Switch was visible, and usable. Adding rudder pedals, then a second throttle quadrant, and finally the radio panel, it was still visible and usable. However, when I re-routed the USB cables to better organize things, the Mode Switch is no longer recognized. Outside of FSX-SE, the mode switch is recognized, but as soon as I load up Steam it is the only button or axis that isn't seen on any of the controllers.

I've tried uninstalling and deleting the driver software, and starting from square one, but no joy. The Mode Switch simply disappears whenever I log onto Steam. I'm hoping someone might have some suggestions, or, better yet, actual help ::grins::

Doesn't it have software allowing you to see that each device is present and working or not

The Yoke controller/device is present outside of Steam and within Steam. It is fully functional outside and inside Steam, except for the Mode Switch. Outside of Steam, the Mode Switch is recognized and functional -- inside of Steam, the Mode Switch isn't even seen or recognized.

Is it really that difficult to get technical help from Steam? Or at least a response of any kind?

Update all the software needed on windows side of things also, yes i know you only arranged cables.
.NET, Java, Visual C++, Chrome. update them all.

Also this Windows Pack, add it if you haven't
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3145500/media-feature-pack-list-for-windows-n-editions

Try totally removing the Device it's self then the Driver software package that came with the Device and reboot, after reboot don't log on to windows but reboot again in safe mode. Log in.
Open DEVICE MANAGER.

In DEVICE MANAGER.
Plug the Device into each and every USB port on the PC, uninstalling after it appears for every USB port.

After you've completely removed all traces of it for each port, reboot back to Windows and Install the Driver Software `before you attach the device of course.

Clean the USB port or ports, if it detaches, the cable, try another, doubtful.

PDF for the Device.

This is an issue to take up with Logitech, not steam

Seriously? You think I didn't try starting there first? ::rolls eyes:: And I've gotten no response from them, either.

Not to mention it used to work on Steam, and now doesn't. So why do you think asking Steam for suggestions and advice is anathema, when it is patently obvious that some setting in Steam has created the issue?

Support from Logitech or Steam won't help you.

b☣bz pretty much covered everything I could think of.

That's why I suggested posting the issue in the beta discussion so a dev might see it and hopefully resolve the issue an update may have caused to break it...

Any number of things could have happened to make it stop working with steam, including changes that you made to the computer, have you check to see if you can update the drivers of it?

Thank you very much for your detailed and thorough suggestions. Unfortunately, the problem still exists. I did update .NET and Visual C++, as everything else was current, but I couldn't install https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3145500/media-feature-pack-list-for-windows-n-editions, as I have Windows 7, and that package only supports Windows 8 and 10.

I also followed the DEVICE MANAGER instructions, which was interesting as I currently have 12 USB 2 and 2 USB 3 ports, with 10 of them currently in use. Needless to say, it took some time. ::grins::

Also unfortunate was the final suggestion: to install the driver software before attaching the device, having acquired the driver through http://www.saitek.com/uk/down/drivers.php. The thing is, clicking on the device at that site--yoke, rudder pedals, etc.-- then takes you to Logitech's site (https://support.logi.com/hc/en-001/articles/360024361233), which does not permit downloading just drivers: you get the whole software/driver enchilada packed as an executable file.

Again, thank you for your timer, patience and help!

I even rolled back (system restore) without success, and I'm kind of anal when it comes to updates, whether programs, OS, drivers, etc. But , yes, all the applicable drivers have been updated.
