My graphics card runs to hot (I guess)
Just wanna ask if I should return my graphics card back to msi. I have a GTX 1080 ti Duke from msi and I think it runs way to hot. If I do not touch the fan curve and let it on stock my card is getting on 84 degrees Celsius (temp limit) very quickly when I play. I would say in about 3-4 minutes. The fans end up on about 75-79%. However if I turn up the fans to 100% (~3000RPM) I'm getting about 75-81 degrees Celsius on the GPU. By the way my GPU clock is between 1800-1870MHZ with stock fan curve and between 1900-1915MHZ with 100% fan speed. However I DID NOT(!!!) overclocked the card and I never had. The card is about 8 months old. My room temperature while measuring the GPU temps was between 29-34 degrees Celsius. But I think I had the same temps back in winter. I hope you can tell me if this temps are normal or way to hot. Thank you so much for any help.

Sounds right to me if it's in full use. If it gets any hotter , probably not good.
Adjust the fan curve. Download and install MSI Afterburner. Also, case air flow is important, stick a couple more fans in your case.

I already have afterburner. I adjusted the fan curve with it. I also have two fans in the front of my case two on top and one at the back. All are running at 100% speed. I can't get more fans into the case and can't get more airflow.

As long as the fans are keeping the GPU at ~80C under load, there is nothing to worry about.

I'm just wondering why any other cards who getting tested by YouTubers never getting near 80 degrees Celsius. For example a strix card from Asus maxing out at 68 degrees Celsius for some people. I also looked up for some reviews for my exact card and it seems like other people cards are maxing out at around 77 degrees Celsius at about 1800 RPM fan speed.

Even with fan speed at 100%? Sometimes I even hit 84 degrees Celsius at 100% fan speed.

From the little research I did with 1080ti throttles the boost clock down around 82-84(ish) degrees. Base clock is how much faster that card can go above stock/reference card Which isn't a bad thing is since it's probably only knocking it down around 30-50mhz from boost clock. Yet as long as it doesn't hit 90 than it won't throttle your base clock.

Yet that aside that is a little hot. it is no way going to damage the card and it won't throttle your base clock (the most important part) as long as you stay below 90. If it hits 95+ than it will just shutdown your computer as a safety measure. Yet I would check and see if the airflow in your case is good and it isn't dusty. If both of those check out and you're still unhappy with the temp and still can send it back, I don't know MSI warranty, then I would do it. Yet if you can't send it back you can always take the heat sink/fan off of it and replace the thermal paste. Worked for me when my card was running a little hotter than usual.

can you post a picture of the inside of your case?.

I had the same thing with my 980 from MSI. The reviewers have the card running around 68 degrees at max while mine was 74. Since temps can differ game to game and test to test. Unreal Heaven was around 70 for me, but another demanding game at 100% usage was 74. So I wouldn't take those reviews with a grain of salt.

Just an msi thing the 1080 armor (which i had) the 1080 ti armor and duke were known to overheat and have crappy coolers.

https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/913375-msi-1080ti-duke-11g-hot-as/

I ended up putting mine on water but just repasting before that made a big difference mine was like dust when i opened it. If you feel comfortable doing it repaste if not id say return the card

Thank you for all of your help guys.i was already thinking about replacing the thermal paste. I know that it is a very easy thing to do and I already did this before on many other cards from my friends. But my understanding is that I will lose ANY warranty from the manufacturer if I do this. Is this correct?

unless you live in a country where consumer protection laws are on your side, replacing thermal compound will void the warranty.

I live in Germany. Dont really know what the laws are all about here

Had Major heatwave recently so your ambient temps are rather high and that will drive component temps up. Like others have said it's not dangerous at the moment.

Not sure if replacing thermal paste voids warranty in Germany so you might want to check before you do. Case might have bad airflow and/or the case fans might not be very efficient. Replacing some of the fans for better ones might help.
