MSI Afterburner with RTSS (So you can get the temps, usage, etc on an OSD (On screen display.))
That's what I do, because I currently don't have a second monitor; Otherwise I'd put it there.

You can also use AIDA64, very customizable and in-depth monitoring, can also do stress tests and the like.
The big downside is that it is not free.

Also like to mention that if you're playing mostly games on Steam, Steam has it's own FPS counter. Just need to turn it on in the settings of the Steam application.

Steam Overlay fps counter is just fine. Just change that to high contrast and it's location to lower left or lower right.

Configure MSI AB settings for what you wish to see by enabling OSD for anything u want on screen. Once enabled, RTSS will run in background, then configure RTSS for things like osd size, color, font, position...

You can configure osd hotkey in msi AB allowing u to toggle the osd info on/off so it's not in your face at all times.
