if the controller is 4+1, they can double up the vrms/chokes to make it look or deliver power of 8+2
or setup a 8+2 with fewer components to 6+1
some of the older msi boards would run a 4+1 setup on 1 to 4 phases depending on how much power the cpu needs at the time (since mosfets are more efficient at higher temps)
Not PWM CONTROLLERS, not MOSFETS (neither Hi nor Low), not CHOKES
