The larger the drive the more power it requires. It's likely that your motherboard doesn't send enough power via USB to maintain a high enough amount to maintain stable connection. You either need to have a smaller drive in that enclosure or use the power adapter that came with it to power it.
the problem is that he is using USB-C to USB-A cable. USB-C has 3-5A with 20V while USB-A normally is 0.9A with 5V which is to low. USB-C could power it.
Not that it matters as OP is converting it to USB A when connecting to their computer it should be safe to assume their system doesn't have a USB Type C port. Therefore other than purchasing a new motherboard using the power adapter that came with the enclosure will be needed to supply enough power to remain stable.
The thing is that USB-C dont have another power adapter.
USB-C encasign are for use with USB-C which has a power of 3-5A x 20V (60-100W). Its enough to run a HDD like the Ironwolf that uses a current of 1.8A and average of 6-10W. Thats why those encasings that come with USB-C dont have additional power cables.
I agree that he proberly dont have an USB-C Port which is why he using that cable which is far to low (0.9A x 5V = 4.5W). The Ironwolf 10TB has an idle power consumption of 4.42W which is why it is seen up to the point where it is under load.
Only option for him is to change the encasing with an USB-Mini B Port and using then an USB-Mini B to USB-A cable and an additional power connection.

There is nothign to test - we already listed the issue. It doesnt matter which USB Port he tries, unless it is USB-C it wont have enough power output.
