Overclocking on an FX 6300 and msi 970a-g43 plus MOBO?
So this is my first build, i'm somewhat new to PC's still even though I've owned this one for about 4 years now. I'm just now getting into OC because I have a game that I could benefit off of if I had more FPS. Atm my MOBO is AM3+, my only options are to get an 8350, upgrade, or try to OC my 6300 to get as much GHZ as the 8350, the last option being my goal. From what I understand 3DMark said on the 1st test I got 18-17 FPS, the 2nd was around 13.86. I found a few guides online and I followed their instructions to the best I could but I'm still getting the same results on the program and I'm sure I didn't do it right. Could anyone give me some help with this? Feel free to PM, I also have discord.

You can get a decent but not crazy overclock on that.
yeah, cept mine has a hexagon shape instead of straight lines where the brass is.
Even on a heavy overclock, you're CPU bound since the GTX 1050ti is much newer than the FX-6300. Older CPUs can't queue frames fast enough for the newer GPU to render them. Overclocking would maybe give you few frames at best and since you're new at it, you run a higher risk of frying your CPU or something. I would opt for the FX-8350 or go with a cheap upgrade.

Forgot ^^^ lots of Fx6300/GTX1050ti benches ^^^ in modern games.

The GTX1050ti is holding you back, just get a cheap Rx 580 and call it a day.

I'm still gaming on the FX8350/gtx1070 or an Fx8350 Rx 580 depends which PC I'm at

You won't see that kind of fps with a GTX1050ti ^^^
