Thinking of upgrading
I currently have an Acer XF270H 1080p monitor with a GTX 1070 GPU. I'm thinking of upgrading to a 1440p monitor.

These are the monitors I'm currently looking at.  I already watched some online reviews for them (Hardware Unboxed, LTT, and Level 1 techs).

Acer XG270HU

Viotek GFT27DB

AOC CQ27G1

Asus MG278Q

Pixio PX329

Does anyone have one of these monitors and how has it been holding up for you?

Don't bother, unless you have something like a GTX 1080 Ti or RTX 2080 you're better off with sticking with 1080p... 144Hz will always slap 60Hz when it comes to gaming, and a GTX 1070 would struggle hitting 144Hz on some titles as is at 1080p, let alone 1440p.

That is part of why I'm looking at upgrading. There would be no real point in upgrading my GPU in the future in the 1070 is good at 1080p. I also tend to prefer RPGs, so looking pretty tends to be more important to me than high frame rate. If I do play a game were the FPS matters, I figured I can just turn the in game resolution down to 1080p.

1070 is fine with 1440p60 or 1080p144

better if it supports vsync/freesync

I still think you should just stick with 1080p 144Hz... even with "only" that you still could upgrade to something like a RTX 2070 Super or RX 5700 XT.

Hey, do what you want but personally I don't think it's worth the massive framerate hit to go to 1440p.

Go for 1440p, high refresh rate with g sync or compatible free sync, you can upgrade GPU later if needed

If you want to upgrade your visual experience, you'd be better with upgrading to ultrawide display or VR.

Get a better gpu first.

I'd stick to 1080p 144hz

I appreciate all the feedback, but I thought this through and for me I think the 1440p monitor is the way to go. I was mostly looking for if anyone has specifically used the monitors named in the opening, and if you were happy with them or having problems.

Any of the Acer Predator or ASUS ROG Swift are very good.

I'd suggest RTX 2070 Super or better for 1440p/144
Or a GTX 1080 Ti if can find good one.

Going from 1080p to 1440p on the same display size is a waste of money.

You can notice a difference easily between a 1080p 27" and a 1440p 27".

Not worth it at all.

Personally I would say so too, only because OP's GPU isn't quite enough for 1440p yet.

I wound up deciding on the Pixio PX329. It's a 32" and should arrive on the 18th.
