What would make a PC come out of sleep mode?
I sometimes put my PC in sleep mode if I'm going to be away from it for an hour or more. Several times (including just a little while ago), I have come back to find my PC awake. :dewey: I know for a fact that it went into sleep mode before I left. I live alone, btw, so there is nobody around to physically touch it... :summerghost:

depends on how bios is configured

should have settings for, usb devices (k/m/controller ect..), lan (wol), modem/serial (ring), timer (clock), power/reset buttons, ac power on
Usually pushing the power button makes a PC come out of sleep mode. Usually, that is, not always.

My first idea is mouse movement, you can awake the PC by pressing a keyboard button or moving the mouse.

On my sister's laptop it works like that, on mine I have to press the power button to quit sleep mode.

I wish I could do that, my BIOS is heavily limited :/

First thing I would try disabling wake-on-lan[www.thewindowsclub.com].

Sounds like there are different sleep modes being discussed above, if your PC is "sleep" (still powered on and in low-power mode) you can wake with keyboard / mouse easily. If PC is in "hibernate" (powered off with RAM state saved to disk), you need to turn it back on with the power button to resume.

Sometimes my PC wakes from sleep at 03:00 AM.
I put it on sleep and it wakes up by itself few minutes after.
And it's doing that the whole time until I turn it off completely.
I figured out it's something related to windows updates.
This happens once every few months.

There is this thing in Windows 10 where it will go through a maintenance check of sorts at a scheduled time, this will wake the computer but it will go back to sleep on its current sleep schedule. I've noticed this with my PC, it wakes up at about midnight then goes back to sleep after the maintenance check is finished.

Then it's more than likely wake on LAN like Talby suggested, Google it.

Before switching to Linux I had that issue too, it's not wake on LAN, the PC is set in a way that it'll even boot just to update Windows at 3 AM.
Which would have to be a BIOS thing as Windows can not boot itself if the computer isn't running.

I know, I didn't say that Windows boots himself, I said that the PC will boot.

I don't have anything related in BIOS except Wake On LAN.
But when Windows wants to turn on PC, it'll do it even when WOL is disabled.

It can only wake itself from sleep mode.
It can't turn on PC that's turned off.

Smartphones can do it, too, if you have a software update you can choose to update the phone at around 2 AM.
