Is there anything I can do about getting my q70r to work stutter free with my nvidia card?
Hi all - I recently spent about 1500 on a Samsung q70r TV - a huge outlay for me. I could not afford the crazy hp bfgd or the other gsync sets coming out.

I wanted a tv and pc with 2080ti setup vs a console because I want to get 4k/60 with hdr steady in all games

I cant achieve these stats with an AMD - both the radeon 7 and 5700xt are way too weak. Thus I can't utilize the freesync on any tv. Also hdmi 2.0 doesn't support freesync so I can't connect my nvidia card

The thing driving me crazy is the tv is 4k60 max and i am getting stuttering because of vsync. adaptive vsync helps a bit, but still it is there

For what I am trying to achieve, I am pretty sure at this point I just need to live with it right? I dont think there is any other solution other than buying a 5000 bfgd unless I want to play on a monitor (which I don't)

Also I can't turn off vsync because I get tearing even with frame limits

also have a cable supporting this? There is a difference between HDMI 2.0 and 2.0b which real 4K TV's should have. Also lenght can be an issue.

Not come accross 120Hz at 1440p myself, most 4k tv's will run 120 at 1080p though, thing is, 120Hz at 1440p is more demanding than 4k 60, so, I don't see how the panels could do it without overclocking.

Many 4k tvs wont do 1440p
That is just plain wrong
you can use other reso but the other reso might not fit the clipping of the screen! we just had a problem with Doom on our 1060 3gb and i7 build, we have a 4k monitor but some resolution wont work on it good at all unless its 1440p, 1080 2k or 4k, that said our 1060 wont 4k all our games unless we play like black ops 1 haha, but i see what you mean

so I have the latest firmware and when my pc is connected I only see 120hz for 1080p, not 2k. what am I missing?

I don't have one of those tvs so I honestly don't know how to get it working.

Some general ideas: Does it have a PC mode? Is there an hdmi port for low latency? Do you have it set to 120hz in game?

What's crazy is the q90r does 4k at 120hz. Over the next few years it's going to become a lot more common.

Is that a TRUE 4k 120 or the usual trickery? Given that all the high refresh panels are 2-4x the cost, I'm guessing it's trickery.

i would hope not. now keep in mind that is a top of the line model that is currently going for 2x the price of the tv the original poster has.

ahh my bad, thought it was the same tv.

ok I figured out how to do 2k 120 - it was under pc resolutions in nvidia control panel. but i still get stuttering. i tried adaptive which had tearing and fast mode which was worse

use native resolution to fix stutters
