Can a z400 run a AMD Radeon (TM) R9 {msm}390
Can a z400 12g memory ,CPU Brand: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU W3550 @ 3.07GHz run a AMD Radeon (TM) R9 {msm}390 Series graphic card?


hi everyone for some reason every time I try to run games on my z400 the workstation shuts down once the game is loaded, i have already replaced the power unit and installed fan control s, and temps are all good there ,plus the graphic card works fine in my other pc,any ideas ? I use the z400 for 3d modeling and was hoping to be able to play games,lol but it just keeps turning off or restarts once a game is about start

That PSU is not powerful enough for the 390. The 390 is a beast and will easily pull nearly 300w on it's own. And you are putting it next a old HEDT CPU which will pull 150w or more also.

You should get at least a 750w PSU for this machine.

The HP Z400 Workstation appears to take a normal ATX PSU. Any normal ATX PSU will fit.

Don't get a cheap no-name "750w" PSU which is incapable of supplying the needed power, buy a quality one from a trusted brand like Corsair, XFX, Seasonic, Bequiet!, EVGA, Superflower etc..

I wouldn't even bother spending any money on this 10 year old machine. Keep the GPU and replace everything else.
