What happens if you don't install chipset drivers???
I got crashes from playing a game in one monitor and having YT playing a video in another. Could it be the fault of not installing chipset drivers? When I play any game I get no crash at all, same thing watching YT if I do it one at a time. Even if it's not a demanding game it still crashes with the game and YT going on.

Edit: Finally got the chipset drivers installed.

Nothing bad will happen. Windows contains drivers for many common chipsets already, they just may not be the latest versions. Installing the latest O.S release should already have everything you need.

Other than that be sure to install the latest driver for your GPU.

The last "latest" driver I installed from Nvidia caused my mouse to bork on my second monitor. The dreadful 431.60 update. Ugh... I couldn't see it but it can still highlight icons. Only happened when waking the computer from sleep. I even had to go in my power management settings to change how my computer wakes up from my mouse! But they fixed that now. Still annoyed about how they roll out these drivers treating us like "guinea pigs".

windows will use its default drivers, which are not always right, but can work in limp mode ti you get the correct driver

I have literally never seen issues caused by using the chipset drivers that come with Windows (even when I booted XP on a Core i7 machine). You may need to install the latest drivers to take advantage of cutting edge features, but that's about it really.

Well my device manager was griping at me at the time because there were NO drivers installed of any kind for the chipset. It had the yellow triangles with the exclamation marks over them. Apparently the disc that came with the motherboard had the drivers on it to install but NO optical drive to speak of is in my setup! Maybe a thumb drive would have been more appropriate since every computer under the sun has at least one usb port. Same thing with graphics cards. "Oh you need to install these drivers from this DYING form of media that you know you won't ever use!" Pfff. And don't say I can just hook up a usb optical drive. I would only use that once for setting things up and then it goes into storage for the remainder of its days until its needed again 10 years from now! Ugh.
