Ryzen 3 1200
I'm upgrading the cpu and ram in my pc.

The ram was 8gb unbranded cheap ram and I've bought 8gb Corsair vengeance 3000mhz.

For the cpu I had an amd a8 7650k and Im upgrading to a Ryan's 3 2100. My gpu is a gtx 1050ti 4gb

With my previous specs I got around 80 fps on fortnite. Do you think these new specs will give me a decent boost? I will also be enabling xmp to get the full potential out of my ram.

ryzen 3 is am4 socket with ddr4 ram
a8 is fm2 socket with ddr3 ram, just buy newer gen 3 ryzen for upgrade path.
I'm buying the Ryan's 3 1200 because it's down from 112 ors something to 50 pounds and I've bought a new am4 motherboard to fit it. In a few months I'll probably but the new gen 3 ryzen 5

I'm also going to buy a new psu. Does anyone know what wattage I would need to run the gtx 1050ti and ryzen 3 1200?
You wont see any difference if you only have a 60Hz monitor since that would mean the most you would see is 60fps no matter what the game tells you. Although the good thing about upgrading your CPU is now games that are very CPU dependant will run better. Plus now that you have a better CPU it allows you the option of a better graphic card later too.

I do only have a 60hz monitor but my old specs dropped to 30-40fps nearing the end of each game because my cpu couldn't handle the amount of building/players that were still in the game. My reason for upgrading is to keep a stable frame rate throughout the game and I'm hoping that the ram and cpu upgrade will do that

no sense buying first gen ryzen when 3rd gen is out. any good quality psu 500- 600 watt would be fine
I don't have the extra couple of hundred pounds to spend on 3rd gen as I'm only 16

Get yourself a 550W - 650W Gold rated one by either EVGA, Corsair, or SeaSonic. (A full-modular one will make cable management easier to work with but semi-modular is okay too if you don't want to store unused cables in a box somewhere.)

TBH, you should stay where you are until you can do it half assed right with a 6c/12t cpu because with the GTX1050ti you're still choked.

6 core 12 thread vs 4 core 4 thread now and then ^.
The 1200 is a decent little cpu. Itl go nicely with the 1050ti. Plus for the price on amazon now you really won’t get a better bang for buck. Go for it
Agree the improvement will be substantial[cpu.userbenchmark.com], 60% overall and 50% IPC, those old APUs were just glorified HTPCs... horrible gaming performance.

I'm not disputing that the IPC is higher but with a gtx1050ti don't expect much of an ,oh wow, factor.

Op is still better off toughing it out until he can afford at least a 1600, ryzen 1200 or any other straight 4 core are pretty much bottom of the barrel to done in 2019.
The Ryzen 3 1200 is still a pretty good CPU for £50. I got one for a budget build earlier this week for £35 from CEX.
With dual chan 3000 MHZ, ram and a mild overclock it will perform fine at 1080p and in the future when you need more CPU power the 3rd gen Ryzen will be much cheaper and a nice slot in upgrade.

Yes exactly, the ryzen 1200 is only for short term, maybe a few months then I plan on upgrading to a 3rd gen cpu and better graphics card.
